Nikon P-223 3×32 Matte BDC Carbine Review
Hi, we are back again bringing you the latest in Riflescopes! As hunting and shooting, become more popular, especially in the U.S. One needs the best optics on your gun and this is where the Nikon P-223 3×32 Matte BDC Carbine comes into play.
Many of you may be having problems with long range shooting and you need an excellent scope to help you with just that. I recently had the opportunity of holding one of these in my hands, and I had fun with it!
Presenting you with the Nikon P-223
Nikon has always been high on the list when it comes to optics from their cameras to their Riflescopes. The Nikon P-223 3×32 Matte BDC Carbine is no different and designed with high quality and made for rough terrains while still presenting one with superior accuracy for long range shooting and superb speed.
When I was shooting back in the days one wanted a dependable scope and could count on durability and reliability, however, the construction and technology of optics have changed in a great way for the better. However, this fixed power scope designed with bullet drop compensator when placed on my 223 Remington it is a performer when it comes to shooting and hunting.
To top it all, the prices are very attractive for a Nikon product, packed with a clamshell type display, and provided with a pair of lens caps available on a string plus you receive a lens cloth to clean the lenses, however, I would change them to the convenient Butler Creek flip up caps.
Another well-noted thing is that the matte finish goes well with the typical AR-15 that one finds these days providing it with a tactical look.
Benefits of the Nikon P-223
One of the benefits I noted when using the Nikon P-223 3×32 Matte BDC Carbine is that it presents one with a larger field of view. When it comes to targeting acquisition when used at the shooting range it is fast. The greater 35’ 6” at 100 yards field of view and if you are an avid shooter, you know that most shootings done within 300 yards, and this scope meets all your needs when it comes to shooting.
Another benefit I noticed is the BDC (Bullet Drop Compensator) and specifically calibrated for the 223 Remington and allows one to adjust the scope to engage targets from different ranges – as it compensates for the strike of the round and the bullet travels its arc. However, the rounds do not have the same impact at 200 yards as it would at 600 yards.
One thing is that the Riflescopes calibrated for 200 yards at the factory and presents one with a fixed 3-power magnification and will limit one’s long-range effectiveness. However, for the competitive shooter this is sufficient; however, there is a downloadable app available from the Nikon website called Spot On allowing you to calibrate the BDC to fit your shooting needs.
The lenses of the Nikon P-223 are pure high quality as I found the transmission of light through the lenses, superb and is parallax free at 100 yards. Another great thing is the tactical target styled knobs for elevation and windage adjustment and requires only a twist and click to change the ¼ MOA with a bonus the return to zero features.
